Synopsis

When a Staten Island kindergarten teacher (Maggie Gyllenhaal) discovers what may be a gifted five-year-old student in her class, she becomes fascinated and obsessed with the child – spiraling downward on a dangerous and desperate path in order to nurture his talent.

Sara Colangelo

Sara Colangelo is a New York–based writer and director. She was invited to Sundance Institute's Writers and Directors Lab during the development of her first feature, Little Accidents. The film premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and was subsequently nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for the best first screenplay. The Kindergarten Teacher is Colangelo's second feature.
