Sundance London

April 25 sees the launch of this year’s Sundance London Film Festival at the O2, offering a weekend’s worth of highlights from the independent film bash, which took place in Utah last month. It’s a strong line-up, too, headlined by a pair of highly anticipated British efforts: ‘The Trip to Italy’, in which Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon take their all-eating, all-drinking, all-bickering comedy roadshow to the continent, and the peculiar ‘Frank’, in which Michael Fassbender plays a weirdo rock frontman inspired by legendary papier-mâché-headed performer Frank Sidebottom.

A strong slate of American efforts range from the high profile – Paul Rudd stars in romcom spoof ‘They Came Together’, while Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick head up the cast of ‘Persepolis’ director Marjane Satrapi’s black comedy ‘The Voices’ – to the rewardingly offbeat, like award-winning revenge drama ‘Blue Ruin’and abortion comedy (yep, that’s a thing) ‘Obvious Child’. As always, there are loads of great docs on offer too: we’re particularly looking forward to ‘Finding Fela!’, a profile of the Nigerian musical genius and freedom fighter Fela Kuti, ‘Lambert & Stamp’, about the men who somehow managed to manage The Who, and‘Dinosaur 13?, about how the discovery of a T-Rex skeleton in South Dakota turned into a federal criminal case.

Tickets go on sale on Friday March 28 at 9am. We’ve got previews of every film screening at the festival at timeout.com/sundance.
