Magnolia Pictures has come on board to distribute The Double in the US following the recent world premiere in Toronto.
Richard Ayoade directed Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska in the loose adaptation of the Fyodor Dostoyevsky novella about a young man plagued by his doppelganger.
Wallace Shawn, Yasmin Paige, Noah Taylor, James Fox, Cathy Moriarty, Chris O’Dowd, Sally Hawkins, Craig Roberts and Paddy Considine round out the key cast.
Magnolia plans a 2014 theatrical release. Ayoade co-wrote the screenplay with Avi Korine. Amina Dasmal and Robin Fox produced and Michael Caine, Graeme Cox, Tessa Ross and Nigel Williams served as executive producers.
The Double is a Film4 and BFI presentation of an Alcove Entertainment production in association with Protagonist Pictures.
Magnolia director of acquisitions John Von Thaden negotiated the deal with WME Global and Protagonist Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers.
