Synopsis

When ‘Lady’ Sandra Abbott (Imelda Staunton) discovers that her husband of forty years is having an affair with her best friend, she seeks refuge in London with her estranged older sister Bif (Celia Imrie). The two could not be more different – Sandra is a fish out of water next to her outspoken, serial dating, free-spirited sibling. But different is just what Sandra needs at the moment, and she reluctantly lets Bif drag her along to her dance class, where gradually she starts finding her feet…. and romance.

Richard Loncraine

Richard Loncraine has earned great acclaim for his work in film, television and commercials. He began his career as a sculptor, with his work being displayed from time to time at the Institute of Contemporary Art, before becoming an award-winning director of commercials. Since then he has directed a host of acclaimed film and television productions. His work includes Blade On The Feather (for which he received a BAFTA nomination), Richard III (for which he won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival), the Emmy Award-winning mini-series Band Of Brothers for Stephen Spielberg, his films The Gathering Storm and My House In Umbria (for both of which he received DGA nominations), the thriller Firewall starring Harrison Ford, romantic comedy Wimbledon starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany and the comedy My One and Only starring Renee Zellweger. He followed these with his third film for HBO, The Special Relationship, which starred Michael Sheen, Dennis Quaid and Hope Davis and garnered five Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe nominations, and most recently directed Ruth & Alex(AKA 5 FLIGHTS UP in the US), starring Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton. Richard is also an inventor, whose creations include the chrome Newton’s Cradle and the ‘Hot Head’ remote-controlled camera head, for which he and his partners won a technical Oscar.
